Story Homes’ sales adviser starts a new chapter

July 2014

Story Homes’ Whins Farm Close in High Harrington has proved to be extremely popular and most recently the development’s very own sales adviser bought a home here with her family.

Carreana Taylor, 39, along with her husband, Brian, 51, and two daughters Abbey (14) and Raisa (11), have recently moved into a ‘Carlisle’ house type at the stunning Whins Farm Close development.

Having been a valuable member of the Story Homes team for almost five years, Carreana knew exactly where to go when looking for a property upgrade.

Although originally from Whitehaven, Carreana has lived in High Harrington for 25 years and she and Postman Brian were keen to stay in the area. Whins Farm Close has allowed them to increase the size of their home, and the new house is closer to the village too. This tranquil village is only a short distance away from the beautiful Lake District as well as being in close proximity to the beaches of the West Coast. With plenty of nearby amenities and two daughters settled at good local schools, staying in the area was important for the family.

Daughter, Abbey said: “I really like my new house as it is much bigger. We haven’t moved too far from our old house, which means I didn’t need to move schools and can still see all my friends!”

The ‘Carlisle’ is a stunning 4 bedroom detached house which includes a garage, utility room and a master bedroom with en suite. When asked about why they picked this particular house Carreana commented: “We decided we needed a larger house and ‘The Carlisle’ has more than fulfilled our requirements. Our new home is south facing too so we get a lot of sunshine in the garden, and it also backs onto fields; giving us additional privacy.”

Carreana previously worked for another house builder in the same role, but was attracted to work at Story Homes because of the reputation and quality of the product. Joining a company whose staff are very well treated and valued was all part of the appeal for Carreana. She said: “You’re not just a number and your opinions and ideas really matter. One of my favourite parts about the job is getting caught up with a customer’s excitement as I guide them through the whole process of buying, choosing their fittings, seeing their finished products and moving in.”

Speaking of her own move she added: “It’s been such a good experience. Everything is new and low maintenance, plus the cheaper energy costs are great! We really enjoyed getting involved with picking out our own kitchen, worktops, fireplace, etc too. The great range of add-ons and extras to choose from really helped us to make it our dream home.”

Story Homes run several incentive opportunities and Carreana made good use of our part exchange scheme; enabling her to buy a Story home as we purchased hers. “Using part exchange was really helpful; one of the best advantages was being able to stay in our old home until the new one was ready. We could even move our furniture in gradually as our Story home was being built.”

She added: “The whole move has just been a dream so far. It’s been great living and working on the development; I know who all my neighbours are and there has been a positive reaction when people find out we’ve moved in. Also, it can be reassuring for people who are buying in the area that they are buying a high specification home in a beautiful area when they see I am living here myself.”

Whins Farm Close is bringing 75 new homes to High Harrington; and with many houses already sold there is a real community starting to develop. The three and four bedroom homes have been designed in ten different styles and layouts, from bungalows to semi detached and detached properties. The development will also have an equipped play space, a public footpath linking to an existing footpath network, plus access from the main road. It really is the perfect setting for a Story Homes’ development of high quality and beautifully finished houses.
