Story Homes looks to expand north west team

June 2015

Story Homes is launching a recruitment drive to support its rapid growth and expansion in the north west.

The award-winning Carlisle-based house builder is looking to recruit around ten new permanent positions in the north west, laying down firm foundations in the region as part of a three year strategic recruitment plan which will see over 100 jobs created at Story Homes. At the same time, Story Homes is also keen to engage with local sub-contractors and key trades people in the region.

Story Homes already has a number of residential projects in Lancashire at different stages of development. The most advanced is High Wood in Lancaster, which has been incredibly successful with 47 homes already occupied, while others in Kirkham, Clitheroe, Preston and Cottam are at relatively early stages. Story Homes has long terms plans for the north west and is looking at potential developments in Manchester and Cheshire.

“In 2015-16 we are projected to deliver more than 550 properties to the market. We aim to increase this to around 1,000 properties by 2018 and the north west will play a big part in making that target a reality.”

HR Advisor Helen McGuinness said: “Because of the expansion of the business and new developments opening across Lancashire and beyond, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team. We are recruiting a range of different roles including Strategic Planners, Utilities Co-Coordinators, Strategic Land Buyers and Senior Quantity Surveyors. We are also committed to forging key partnerships with local sub-contractors and the local supply chain.”

Current activity in the north west includes:

• Ongoing development at High Wood in Lancaster, built on the site of the former Lancaster Moor Hospital, where more than 47 homes are now occupied.

• Site preparation work for a development of 117 new homes in Kirkham.

• A detailed planning application for 283 homes at Cottam Hall in Preston, a site which already has outline planning permission.

• A planning application for 130 homes on the land off Henthorn Road, Clitheroe.
