We are consulting with the local community on proposals for approximately 220 high quality new homes across two developments in Cumbria. The two full planning applications would deliver approximately 153 homes on land south of Orton Road in Carlisle and 67 homes on land at Thursby which would form phase two of its existing St Andrew’s View development in Thursby.
Both sites have been allocated for residential development. The land south of Orton Road forms part of the wider land at Newhouse Farm which is allocated for residential development for 509 homes in the Carlisle District Local Plan 2015-2030; and the Thursby development is allocated for residential development for 40 homes in the Allerdale Local Plan (Part 2).
We are proposing a development of two to five-bedroom homes from the Story Collection across both sites and affordable homes will be included.
Development Planner, Paul Fenton, said: “At Story Homes we always strive to deliver the best possible development through thoughtful planning and design. These consultations for our plans at Orton Road in Carlisle and St Andrew’s View in Thursby, are an excellent opportunity for the local community to comment and help shape these proposals.
“We believe that our schemes, being in sustainable locations on the settlement edge, will make an important contribution of high quality homes in line with the adopted Local Plans which will complement the local area and deliver benefits to the wider community.”
Our schemes benefit the local economy during the construction phase as a result of direct and indirect employment opportunities through the sub-contractor and supply chains, as well as an increased demand for local services when the new homes are occupied.
We will be consulting with key stakeholders and residents adjacent to the sites on its proposals for new homes, prior to submitting planning applications to Carlisle City Council and Allerdale Borough Council early in 2021.
The consultations for both sites close on Sunday 13 December 2020.
