Story Homes receives green light to bring 118 high quality new homes to Coppull

February 2024

We are delighted to have secured planning permission to deliver 118 new homes and the associated infrastructure on land adjacent to Blainscough Hall in Coppull.

Chorley Borough Council resolved to grant planning consent for the scheme at its Planning Committee meeting on 06 February 2024, and has now issued the formal decision notice for the scheme.

Following the approval of outline planning permission in February 2022 and engagement with existing local residents to help shape plans for a new community, we submitted a reserved matters application for the scheme to Chorley Borough Council in September 2023.

The approved plans include a mix of one to five-bedroom high quality new homes, with 30% of the properties being affordable. Whilst significant areas of public open space will be created within the development, the housebuilder will also pay over £200,000 towards the provision of improved public open space within Coppull.

In addition, we will contribute £320,000 towards increasing secondary education capacity in the local area and will pay over £1.2m in Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)*.

Martin Nugent, Head of Land and Planning for Story Homes North West said: “We’re thrilled to have received planning consent from Chorley Borough Council to deliver this new residential development of 118 homes in Coppull.

“This exciting new scheme will deliver a number of benefits to the local community, including affordable homes and new open space, as well as economic benefits that are associated with the development of new homes, such as the direct and indirect employment opportunities for local people created throughout the construction phase.”

It is anticipated that on-site works for this new development will commence in May 2024.

*Community Infrastructure Levy is a charge which can be levied by local authorities on new development in their area.
