Save thousands on Stamp Duty before March 2025

The temporary reduction of Stamp Duty put in place for home buyers in September 2022 is due to end on 31 March 2025.

This initiative has supported people to get onto the property ladder and has allowed home buyers to make significant savings. For first-time buyers, if the purchase price is below £425,000, they have no Stamp Duty to pay whilst home movers can purchase a home up to £250,000 without paying any Stamp Duty too.

As the temporary relief period comes to an end in March, rates are set to increase with the threshold for home movers halving. See below the difference in some of the Stamp Duty thresholds between now and 1 April 2025 onwards.

First-time buyers:

  • Up to 31 March 2025 – 0% to pay on properties up to £425,000
  • From 1 April 2025 – 0% to pay on properties up to £300,000 

Home movers:

  • Up to 31 March 2025 – 0% to pay on properties up to £250,000
  • From 1 April 2025 – 0% to pay on properties up to £125,000
