Interior designer Q&A: The Charlton at Aspen Grange, Carlisle

November 2020

Since opening the doors to our Charlton show home at Aspen Grange in Carlisle, we have had so many nice comments about how beautiful the interior design is.

So, we caught up with Charlotte Darby from Show Business Interiors to find out more about the inspiration behind the styling of this show home.

Q: What was your inspiration for the styling of this home?

A: Our aim was to create a timeless, classic design appealing to professional couples looking for their next family home.

Q: Have you followed a colour trend/ is there a colour scheme throughout?

With the Charlton being so spacious we could afford to use a bolder accent colour, so we introduced navy but kept the tone quite chalky on the walls. Chalky tones are very current, and you will see these coming through with all the leading paint suppliers. We teamed it with some warmer tones and brought in pops of colours to some of the soft furnishings.

Q: Have you followed a specific scheme with the kind of furniture used? Why did you choose this furniture?

A: We varied the furniture introducing a mixture of marble, glass and dark woods to give depth. The scheme is very executive with a classic look and feel throughout.

Q: Which room was your favourite to dress?

The open plan kitchen/dining/family space. It’s a great room to style with all the natural daylight flooding in from the bi-fold doors and large window in the kitchen area, and we love the kitchen layout with the island – it’s a great entertaining space but equally perfect to relax as a family.

We love what Show Business Interiors have done with the Charlton, it showcases the flexible living that this home offers, and how easy it is to add your personal touch to a Story home. You can have lots of fun with the kids bedrooms too – one of our favourite rooms in this show home features a spectacular Winnie-the-Pooh wall mural:
