Interior Designer Q&A: Styling The Robinson show home

February 2023

We caught up with Charlotte from Show Business Interiors about the interior design for The Robinson show home at Whins View, High Harrington.

Our mini Q&A covers the inspiration, choosing the colour scheme, must-have furniture, their favourite room to design, top tips for styling your own home and more.

The Robinson Show Home | Whins View | New Homes in High Harrington, Workington | Story Homes

What was your inspiration for the show home?

“The Robinson house type is a great family home with rooms big enough for entertaining spaces. This house needed to feel warm, inviting and homely, yet smart and executive for a range of Story Homes customers.”

What’s the colour scheme and why did you choose it?

“This house incorporated a mix of blues, neutrals and dusky pink tones to create that warm and inviting feel whilst adding depth to achieve that quality, executive look and feel.”

What was your favourite room to design?

“It’s a split between the two, the lounge and the kitchen/dining/family space. The lounge was beautiful, it felt luxurious with a deeply textured wallpaper on the walls and soft pink accents. In that family space, we’ve got that amazing panelling on the walls with beautiful artwork situated between each and the sofa underneath.”

Which piece of furniture is a must-have for this home?

“It has to be the bed, it’s the most impactful piece of furnishing for any home. The bedroom should be designed as a sanctuary with the bed being the focal point. You can really personalise this room and create impact with the style of your headboard, whether you go for an oversized large framed headboard or a longer low, perhaps even curved headboard like we put in Bedroom Two. You can add texture with the wallpaper, throws, bedding and ornamentation around the room.”

What’s your top tip for styling a blank canvas?

“Think about how you want your home to look and feel, and pick furnishings to reflect the style that you want to achieve. To create that relaxing feel, perhaps you replicate the show homes in those soft neutrals, blues and pinks. For socialable settings, a round circular table adds softness with the curved edges and is a great space for entertaining.”
