After viewing the 4-bedroom Dawson house type, Dave and Pam just knew that this was the property for them. They secured their dream home at Oakleigh Fields in Carlisle and moved in February 2023, enjoying the calming views looking out onto the fells.

Why did you choose Oakleigh Fields?

“We previously owned a detached 3-storey home, but wanted to downsize to be mortgage free. We initially looked at the Emmerson house type and were happy with the layout. Once the plans were confirmed for the site and we realised the house layout had changed slightly (i.e. the living room and kitchen were flipped to become the Dawson) it was an absolute no-brainer. We knew the exact plot we wanted and did everything we could to ensure we had everything in place to secure it.”

What do you love most about The Dawson?

“We absolutely love the kitchen/diner and family space. The whole home just works for us. As there are only the two of us, we feel we have more than enough space. Our bedroom on the top floor is amazing and to look out onto the fells creates such a calming atmosphere.”

Which room do you find yourselves spending the most time in?

“We definitely spend most of our time in the kitchen/diner area.”

Why did you choose Story Homes?

“We wanted a home which wouldn’t require any work and wanted the luxury of having everything new. There was also the peace of mind that we have guarantees on all appliances.”

What do you like most about living in a new build?

“The space, the energy efficiency and the low maintenance that all comes with it. We are finding it a toasty warm house and although we are probably paying more at the minute for our gas/electricity, we are very much in credit so once we’ve been in a year will look to reduce this slightly. We’ve made our garden low maintenance so more quality time to socialise with friends/family at weekends rather than doing chores around the house.”
