Customer case study: Family relocation to St. Andrew’s Gardens

Cath and Dave, along with their two dogs, have chosen to relocate to their new Story home at St. Andrew’s Gardens in Thursby to be closer to their daughter, who recently moved to the same development.

They are set to move in by June 2025 and we caught up with them to find out what made them want to move to St. Andrew’s Gardens, and what makes The Dawson so perfect for them.

What made you choose our St. Andrew’s Gardens development?

“The main reason we chose this development was because our daughter purchased a property here and moved in June 2024.

“We love the village location and the open, spacious feel of the development.”

What motivated you to relocate to the same development as your daughter?

“We have always been very close as a family and we love spending time together, so being just around the corner makes it easier. We lived close before she moved, and it was actually her idea for us to come and look at the homes here so we could continue living close by.

“It also allows us to support her with childcare by being more hands on and help out in emergencies, or during holidays etc. In reverse, she can support us as we grow older without us having to move, which gives us the comfort of maintaining our independence.”

What is your favourite thing about having your daughter live so close by?

“Family is everything. We love getting together socially for Friday night nibbles or a Sunday roast, and being close means we can enjoy a glass or two without worrying about getting home! Having a beautiful, spacious new home to host these gatherings is the icing on the cake!”

What house type did you choose and why?

“We’ve reserved a Dawson as we loved both the design and its location on the development. The kitchen is amazing, with an island which is perfect for family dining and socialising with friends, and the bi-fold doors that open directly into the garden, creating a wonderful outside/inside feel. The master bedroom on the top floor is spacious and private, and the unique window design adds a touch of quirkiness in a modern home, which we love. The overall layout flows throughout the house, with generously sized bedrooms throughout.”

What do you love most about your house type?

“It’s very family oriented and even though we haven’t moved in yet, we’re already in love with everything about it… it was love at first sight.”

Which room do you think you will be spending the most time in?

“It will definitely be the kitchen.”

Did you consider a second-hand property?

“No we didn’t, because we had already fallen in love with the house we’ve reserved. It suits all our needs in every way, from socialising, to cosy nights with our grandchildren. Plus, with a new build, it will require little maintenance and we’ll have the convenience of moving straight in without any hassle.”

What do you like most about living in a new build?

“We love the low maintenance and energy efficiency. It’s move in ready, so we won’t have to deal with extensive building work or renovations. Plus it gives us the opportunity to put our own stamp on the home, and personalise it to our liking.”

Did you consider other housebuilders and if yes, why did you choose Story Homes?

“Yes we looked at other developers, but we felt the build quality didn’t compare to Story Homes. The Story site is very clean and well organised for a construction site. The choices of interior finishes are really good quality. We also appreciated that there was also no hard sell involved. When we met the Sales Executive Wendy, we were truly impressed by her friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and professional attitude.”
