One of our Sales Executives has moved into her own Story Home at our Paddocks View development in Middleton-St-George.
Megan Sanderson, 26, decided to purchase a Story Home with husband Alex, 25, an internet car sales executive, and their dog Ralphy. Megan started working with us nearly two years ago, after her mum – also a Sales Executive – recommended the company and showed her around the Paddocks View development where she worked.
Megan and Alex chose a four-bedroom detached ‘Wellington’ house type, using the government’s Help to Buy scheme to move from their first home in Newton Aycliffe into a more spacious property that would be large enough for a family in the future.
Paddocks View, which features a collection of three, four and five-bedroom homes, proved the ideal location for the couple. Megan said: “When I first started working at Story Homes I spent my first few months in training on Paddocks View, and I instantly made a connection with the development. The location is perfect as it sits on the outskirts of the village which gives it a semi-rural feel, but Darlington is only two minutes away by car. The development is lovely and quiet and there are some beautiful walks nearby for our little pug Ralphy.”
Megan and Alex looked at both older properties and new builds, but realised that the renovation work they would want to undertake on an older home would be costly. Megan explained: “We decided to focus on new builds and when you compare what we offer as standard in our homes compared with other housebuilders, it was a no brainer to get Alex on side to buy a Story Home!”
Explaining their reasons for choosing a Wellington house type, the couple said: “It was mainly down to the bright, open plan kitchen diner with its bi-fold doors. The kitchen offers a huge amount of cupboard space and magic corner units which ensures all storage space is used – we haven’t even been able to fill them all. The utility room was important to us too, especially with access into the integral garage. There are three spacious double bedrooms upstairs and a fourth room that we use as a dressing room, although it would easily fit a single bed and some furniture.”
Megan continued: “I love the bay window in the lounge and I can’t wait to put my Christmas tree up there this year. We’ve really enjoyed spending time in our south-facing garden this summer as well – it’s been lovely sitting out in the evening and admiring our new home.”
On their experience of buying their home, Megan commented: “The site team at Paddocks View were superb from start to finish and always kept us up-to-date on the build. The relationship they have between site and sales makes it possible for everyone to work together to build quality homes and provide great service. The team is a credit to Story Homes and we couldn’t be happier with the home they built us. We are completely in love with it.”
In her role as Sales Executive, Megan is based at our Brookfield Woods development in Middlesbrough. She said: “Going through the process myself and now being on the other side means I know exactly how customers will be feeling at different points of their journey. It is very useful to be able to explain a Wellington house type in detail to potential customers, and when the house is handed over to a customer I can vouch for how easy it is to register all of their appliances and reassure them about what to expect during the first few months in their new home.”
Lyndsey Walton, Sales Manager, said: “A number of our colleagues have recently decided to purchase a Story Home themselves, which is fantastic as it shows that we genuinely believe in the product we build and sell. Megan is a very important member of our sales team in the North East and I’m delighted that Megan and her husband are so happy with their new home.”
