NHS and Government worker from Penrith secure perfect new Story home

May 2020

A local couple from Penrith have purchased a brand-new Story home at The Fairways – their first new home in over 30 years.

Julie Rogerson, a Data Management Officer for the NHS and her husband Paul, a Finance Officer for local Government, opted for a four-bedroom, detached ‘Boston’ home at The Fairways.

The couple have two grown up daughters who are married with families and live away. They received the keys for their new home at the end of February and moved in over the course of a few days.

Julie said: “We chose the Boston as it is so spacious and perfect for when our daughters, their husbands and our grandchildren come to visit.

“We moved from a three-bedroom house in Penrith, where we had lived for 30+ years, as there just wasn’t sufficient space for when our extended family came to visit. We sold our existing home before purchasing with Story, which helped in our choice of home and our eventual move. We viewed other ‘second hand’ houses and discovered that in Penrith, a new-build home represented better value for money.”

Paul said: “As a local company, Story Homes has a good reputation. We viewed other developments, but Story Homes was always our first choice because of their kerb appeal, and the standard of finish of the houses. We chose The Fairways because we have always lived in Penrith and we like the specific location of the development.”

The couple visited Story show homes in both Penrith and Carlisle to see what fittings were available and how the different layouts of the homes would suit them. The couple said: “We thought they were all finished to a high standard and promoted the homes really well, and after viewing the Boston show home, we knew that was the one for us!”

Discussing their favourite features of their new home, Julie said: “We love the space in the house and garden. We particularly like the kitchen/diner, the four double bedrooms and the bay window – I can’t wait to put our Christmas tree up!”

Hayley Blair, Head of Sales at Story Homes, said: “A new build home is ideal for couples like Julie and Paul who need a low maintenance home with more space for their extended and growing family. Plus, with everyone spending more time at home than ever, there’s a good opportunity for new home owners to get settled in and do all the time consuming jobs such as unpacking, putting up curtains and fitting lights.”

“With high specification features such as designer fitted kitchens, AEG appliances and Porcelanosa tiling, it’s great to see that a Story home was the perfect choice for Julie and Paul. We’re thrilled to have helped the couple find their ideal property and we wish them every happiness in their new home.”

Summarising their purchasing journey with Story Homes, the couple said: “We would highly recommend Story Homes and have taken great pleasure in showing our family and friends around our new home and garden. They were all suitably impressed.

“The Sales Executive Abbey eased any initial apprehensions we had about purchasing a new-build home; she was reassuring and helped to make it a smooth transition. The Site Manager Archie has been more than obliging in sorting out minor snagging and any site workers that required access to our home were all polite, friendly, and helpful.”

The couple have also been impressed by the sense of community spirit at The Fairways, explaining: “We have found that, as a new development, people make an effort to speak and try to get to know their new neighbours. With the current lockdown we have all been able to support our neighbours with little tasks.”

There are just five homes remaining at The Fairways in Penrith and, with demand still high, the development is expected to be sold out very soon.
