We have welcomed four new graduates to Story Homes this week as part of our graduate programme, which is now in its third year.
Emma Dolan, Quantity Surveyor; Joshua Haworth, Technical Designer; Lauren Duckworth, Land Planner and Hannah Richins, Strategic Planner will be based in our North West region at our office in Chorley.
We launched our graduate programme in 2015 with the aim of bringing young talent into our business. As a rapidly growing housebuilder we recognise the importance of playing our part in addressing the skills shortage in the construction industry, and by providing young people with sustainable positions and training programmes we can find the next generation of talent to continue Story Homes’ growth.
Each year, the programme has attracted hundreds of applicants who are keen to work at Story Homes across our operational divisions.
This year’s successful graduates secured their places on the programme after a rigorous selection process, which included an assessment centre earlier this summer.
Emma Dolan, Quantity Surveyor, said: “I was keen to join Story Homes because of its values, quality of product and ambitious expansion plans. I have always wanted to become a Quantity Surveyor and this graduate programme is a great way to get on the ladder. I enjoyed the whole application process, especially the assessment centre. The time and investment that the company had put into this far exceeded my expectations and gave me a great first impression.
“I have really enjoyed my first week. I can already see that there is a great team in the Chorley office and everyone has been approachable and welcoming. I am excited about my future with Story Homes, and am looking forward to developing my skills and learning from the experienced team in the office, as well as forging relationships with our contractors.”
Shelley Hayward, Learning and Development Manager at Story Homes, commented: “Our ongoing commitment to investing in and developing young talent is crucial to us as a business. It is key to our future growth and success that we attract graduates and school leavers into our business. Our graduate scheme has proved a huge success in previous years with many of those recruited securing full-time positions with us, so we are pleased to welcome our third intake and look forward to helping them develop and progress their careers with us.”
