Funding helps girls score high in the football league

September 2017

Members of Queen of the South Girls and Ladies Football Club have started the season in style after being kitted out by Story Homes.

The Dumfries team now has full team kit to wear on match days, festivals and tournaments thanks to Story Homes. Club members say that the strips will enable the team to look the part, and build a sense of belief and belonging whilst representing the football club.

Jan Crosbie, who is part of the fundraising team at Queen of the South Girls and Ladies Football Club, said: “We are so grateful to Story Homes for sponsoring the team. Sponsorship money makes a huge difference to a local community team like us. We are forever fundraising and such generous donations like this are much needed. The likes of kits, travelling expenses and equipment aren’t cheap but thankfully we now have a new kit for the season and the upcoming seasons ahead.

“We have a friendly approach at Queen of the South Girls and Ladies Football Club where football development is at the heart of the club. We achieve this by providing a supportive and welcoming environment which helps to foster a sense of belonging for all. Queen of the South Girls and Ladies Football team are a warm and welcoming club where inclusion of all is at the forefront. The help from Story Homes has been fundamental to achieving this goal by helping to keep costs down for all its members.”

Ian Storey, Managing Director for Cumbria and south Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Queen of the South Girls and Ladies Football Club and wish them every success in the future.”

Queen of the South Girls and Ladies Football Club includes five teams from U11s through to their senior team, who regularly train and compete locally and nationally in their respective leagues. Success this season has seen their U13 team come back “doonhame” with the Scotland Cup Tournament Trophy from Ayr, beating teams from all over Scotland, and the U15s remaining unbeaten in the first half of the season.
