First residents now moved in at Alders Edge

September 2014

This enormously popular development at Scotby is now occupied with the first few residents as the community starts to develop.

First to move in were Eric and Mair Alldritt, 78 and 81 respectively, who had previously lived in Keswick, but were keen to move to a different location with Eric saying: “I have spent 55 years in the church ministry and now that I’m retired we were keen to move to a different location from our last church. It was also important to be closer to our family as we have 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

We chose this house at Scotby as it is still a rural setting and the new home offers a very pleasant view. I think Story Homes are second to none for quality and good value.

The retired couple moved into their four-bedroom detached Durham house in August and couldn’t be happier about their new adventure, Eric said: “We first heard about Alders Edge after noticing Story Homes’ Crindledyke Farm development. We feel sometimes people downsize too early, but we wanted to stay in mainstream life as long as possible rather than drop into early retirement lifestyle. And where better to do it than a Story Home!”

Eric was full of positivity and excitement when asked about his new home and how he hoped life would be at Alders Edge, saying: “Owning a new home is great as we can have a fresh start and have a new environment to explore. I think our favourite thing about the house is that it gives us more space than our old one which is perfect for our growing family who love to visit us.

With regards to life at Alders Edge we are looking forward to making new friends as this is a new area for us. And especially to meet our new local church family.”

There are now only a few homes remaining at Alders edge! This fabulous collection of high quality homes in Scotby has been designed with Story Home’s signature appearances creating attractive street scenes which have effortlessly blended in with the beautiful surroundings of the village.
