Customer camps out to secure first Story Home in South Lakeland

September 2014

When a new development was launched in Kendal this week, one special customer waited all night to get her hands on her dream Story Home.

Jean Heseltine, 60, waited in the cold for 21 hours to make sure she was first in line when properties on ‘The Beeches’ development were released to customers at an exclusive launch event.

Jean, a retired teacher, said: “I have followed the development right through the planning process, ringing the office to find out more and then following news on the Story Homes website. After hearing how popular other launch events have been I knew I would have to get in quickly to get the plot and house type I wanted. I’m pleased I did camp outside overnight as a long queue of customers had formed before the doors opened.

“I have viewed Story Homes on other developments so I was familiar with the excellent high quality and finish the homes have. It’s great that Story Homes has arrived in Kendal as the town lacked development and choice and these houses will be finished to such a high standard.”

Thanks to being first in line, Jean was lucky enough to put down a reservation on her brand new ‘Warwick’ home, making her our first ever buyer in Kendal and South Lakeland. With more than 50 people queuing at the door of the Castle Green Hotel venue, demand for homes at The Beeches speaks for itself.

Work started on site at The Beeches in Summer 2014 and the first homes will be built and occupied in Spring 2015. The Beeches will have 76 homes in total, including a range of detached, semi-detached and terraced properties with 2, 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms. Properties will be finished with a mix of limestone and render in keeping with the local area.

Jean, who is originally from Cockermouth, can’t wait to move to her new home next year. She said: “I have been looking for a new home for more than 18 months and it was disheartening to look at second hand homes and realise that they needed so much work. With my new Story Home, I can choose a kitchen, tiles and other finishing touches to my own taste and move in without any hassle. I just need to move my furniture in. It’s very reassuring to know that everything is new and I have a ten year warranty on the property.

“With my children living in London and Leeds, Kendal is ideally placed to reach them quickly by road and train. If I couldn’t get the Story Home I wanted at The Beeches, I would certainly have tried to get a Story Home in or around Cockermouth. The Story Homes developments are all beautiful and I’m pleased to say that I will own a Story Home very soon!”

A second event will be held on 24 September 2014 and a sales presence will be on site from mid October.
