Consultation to discuss plans for new homes in Wrea Green, Fylde

Wrea Green Development Plans

Story Homes is about to consult with the public about plans to bring up to 100 new build homes to the area. The land, off Langton’s Farm in the village, would provide detached and semi-detached high quality and high specification family homes.

The plans would help the local authority to address the under delivery of housing in the district by boosting the supply. The proposals would also potentially offer up to 30 affordable homes for the local community. The plans for development in Wrea Green would leave open public space within the development, to be enjoyed by the whole community.

The proposed development is Story Homes’ first in the Fylde area and would have a positive impact on the local economy by providing local contractors with opportunities to tender for work, with knock on advantages for local supply chains. Much needed employment opportunities would be created both directly through Story Homes and indirectly through the knock on effect for local businesses.

David Hayward, Development Planner for Story Homes said: “Whilst we are aware of the objections to new homes in the village, we feel that our plans will enhance the area and provide very high quality family homes which are in keeping with the local character of Wrea Green. Story Homes’ development here would help to enhance the vitality of the local community by increasing the use of the local businesses and potentially encourage the establishment of new local services.

“Our public exhibition next week is an opportunity for the community to see and comment on the plans and to help shape the plans before they are submitted.”

Story Homes’ public exhibition takes place on Wednesday 5 March 2014 at the Wrea Green Institute, Wrea Green, PR4 2PH between 2.00pm and 8.00pm.
