“I would describe Story Homes as visionary. Our houses are the most detailed new builds I have worked on and when they are finished they really do stand out compared to others.”
I’ve worked in house building since leaving school. I started out as an apprentice bricklayer, which wasn’t part of my original plan! I’ve worked in several construction related jobs over the years and when I was driving a fork lift truck, my site manager wanted me to be his assistant. I just said ‘yeah ok’ to keep him quiet and the next day I turned up in shirt and pants … and the rest, as they say, is history! In the last thirteen years I have worked for three other major house builders in site management. The highlight has been winning the LABC’s North West region Site Supervisor of the year in 2015.
I decided to join Story Homes when they opened up the North West office in Chorley. I liked the set up and that they are visionary.
I’m in control of most aspects of the day to day running of a building site, from making sure everybody signs in, to helping customers enjoy their experience of a new home. Every day is different on site and at times can be very challenging. I enjoy helping less experienced operatives to develop into the builders of tomorrow.
Our houses are the most detailed new builds I have worked on and when they are finished they do stand out when compared to others, this was also another reason for me joining Story Homes. I definitely made the right decision to join the company and look forward to working here for many years to come.
