“Being owned by a family rather than a PLC was something that attracted me to Story Homes.”
I was working on a planning application for another developer in Preston at the same time Story Homes were working on Waterside and D’Urton Manor applications. I was really impressed with the quality of design of the houses. I researched the company and being owned by a family rather than a PLC was something that attracted me to the them.
I was looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to work on residential schemes. It’s great to lead a project from beginning to end, which you don’t tend to do as a consultant. I wanted to see the sites and work on them getting built and still be involved throughout the process.
My job involves working and interacting with all departments internally and to manage external consultants. This gives me the opportunity to learn about what everyone does in the company and to get to know the people better too.
Working for Story Homes is fast paced and there has been a lot to get to grips with in a short space of time. This is mainly due to the expansion we have been part of in the North West and working in the house building industry was completely new to me … so there was lots to learn. It’s clear there are real opportunities to progress through the company in the future.
