As a business we take the mental health of our colleagues extremely seriously, and as such, we have invested in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for a number of staff across the business. Our MHFAs act as a confidential point of contact for colleagues who are in mental health distress. If contacted, their role is to listen to colleagues, support them and provide appropriate guidance, signposting them to further support if they need it.

At Story Homes, we are passionate about our employees’ development and career aspirations. All employees are provided with the opportunity to have a ‘check in’ with their manager on a monthly or at least a quarterly basis to discuss their development against their objectives and suggest any business improvements. During these ‘check ins’ we also discuss future progression and plans to understand how we can support and develop staff to achieve their career aspirations, including any training opportunities. Each year we choose a worthwhile organisation and dedicate our colleague and company fundraising to this charity, and for FY23 we’re pleased to support Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as our nominated charity partner. CRUK is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information and the funds we raise as a business will play a vital role in helping those who are affected by this awful disease.
